A Birthday Message from the CEO
Posted on: October 15,2026Marines, Families and Friends of the Corps,
On 10 November 1775, the Continental Congress authorized the raising of two battalions of Marines. From our beginnings, generations of Marines have answered our Nation’s call.
For 251 years, the Corps has changed, the conflicts that we find ourselves in have changed, as have the battlefields that we have fought on, and the world has moved on. But what has endured and will always carry us forward is the character of the Marines who fill our ranks and the bond shared by all who have earned the title.
As we celebrate this Birthday, I want to thank every Marine—past and present—for your service and sacrifice. I also want to recognize our Marine families, whose support and sacrifice have sustained our Corps throughout its history. They, too, are an important part of the story we celebrate each November.
To the Marines serving today, particularly those deployed and standing watch around the world, know that you carry with you the respect and gratitude of generations who served before you. We could not be prouder of you.
Wherever this 251st Birthday finds you, I hope you take a moment to remember those who came before us, celebrate the Marines alongside you and look with confidence toward those who will follow.
From all of us at the Marine Corps Association, thank you for allowing us the privilege of serving Marines and the Corps we all love.
Happy 251st Birthday, Marines. Stay safe, take care of one another, and Semper Fidelis.
