CATALYST

The Community Catalyst of the Year Award recognizes a member of the Marine Corps community who has shown exceptional dedication to building and nurturing a supportive environment. This award celebrates individuals who go above and beyond to create inclusive, welcoming spaces that foster connections, collaboration, and mutual support among Marine Corps families. The recipient of this award demonstrates leadership and initiative in enhancing the quality of life for those within the Marine Corps community.


Shows a long-term commitment to improving the quality of life for Marine Corps families.


Eligibility

  • Must reside within one of the designated regions (East, West, Pacific, and Europe/Middle East).
  • Eligible nominees include spouses, family members, and other community members in support of the Marine Corps.

Criteria

Community Engagement:

  • Actively participates in community events, programs, or initiatives.
  • Organizes or leads community activities, clubs, or support groups.
  • Demonstrates consistent involvement in efforts to connect and support Marine Corps families.

Leadership and Initiative:

  • Takes the lead in identifying and addressing community needs.
  • Develops and implements innovative solutions to foster a stronger, more cohesive community.
  • Inspires and motivates others to get involved and contribute to community-building efforts.

Inclusivity and Support:

  • Creates an inclusive environment where all spouses feel welcome and valued.
  • Provides support, resources, and encouragement to fellow spouses.
  • Acts as a mentor or role model, offering guidance and assistance to new or struggling spouses.

Positive Impact:

  • Demonstrates a measurable positive impact on the local Marine Corps community.
  • Receives recognition or appreciation from peers for their contributions.
  • Shows a long-term commitment to improving the quality of life for Marine Corps families.

Nomination Process

  • Nominations can be submitted by any member of the Marine Corps community (spouses, active-duty members, commanders, etc.).
  • Nominators must provide a detailed description of the nominee’s contributions and impact on the community.
  • Supporting materials (e.g., letters of recommendation, testimonials, event photos, etc.) are encouraged to illustrate the nominee’s efforts and achievements.
  • Nomination packages must include the contact information (email, address, and phone number) of both the nominee and the nominator.
  • Nominations for the award are accepted year-round, from July 1 to June 30. Any nomination packages received after June 30 will automatically be considered for the following year’s award cycle.

Selection Process:

  • A Selection Committee comprised of distinguished spouses, community members, and senior Marine Corps leaders will review all nominations.
  • The committee will evaluate nominees based on the outlined criteria and select one recipient from each region.

Award Presentation:

  • The awards will be presented in October 2025, at the Marine Corps Association Annual Dinner in Washington, DC.
  • Each recipient will receive a physical award and be featured in Behind the Camouflage podcast and associated media outlets.
