A YEAR ago these pages recorded as a stirring event the increase of the Corps to twenty-five thousand enlisted. As we go to press the figure has risen to nearly thirty-eight thousand. In addition, certain classes of reserves have heen mobilized. A bill now before Congress would raise our enlisted strength to a minimum of 50,000.
