The Marine Corps Women's Reserve
Enrollment of applicants for the Marine Corps Women's Reserve began on February 15, 1943, after appropriate publicity on the two days preceding. The Director of the Women's Reserve is Major Ruth Cheney Streeter, USMC, of Morristown, N. J. A small number of women already expert in special fields were commissioned direct from civil life, in order to assist the Director in details regarding uniforming, training, classification, public relations, etc.
