REPORTS received by the Bureau of Aeronautics reveal that United States Air Force and antiaircraft units destroyed 199 Japanese planes during the first 10 days of the current offensive in the Northern Solomon Islands. Thirty-four United States planes were lost, the reports said, but 16 pilots were rescued.
