The Capture of John Brown
A Letter written by First Lieutenant Israel Green, U. S. M. C., appearing in The North American Review, of December, 1885.
IN THE late summer of 1859 a hard eyed, grey bearded, medium sized man rented a farm in Maryland, a few miles north of Harper's Ferry, and gave out that his name was Smith, and that he was going to make a crop. The neighbors paid no particular attention to him.
