TROUBLE IN CANTON

THE steam frigate San Jacinto and the sloops-of-war Portsmouth and the Levant, constituted the East India Squadron under Flag Officer James Armstrong, on duty in Chinese waters when the second war between Great Britain and the Chinese Empire broke out in October, 1856.
