In Memoriam: Col Martin J. Melvin, Jr.

Col Martin J. Melvin, Jr., 77, in Waukegan, Ill. He served in both WW Il and the Korean War. He was an antiaircraft gunner on USS Hornet (CV-8) when she was sunk Oct. 26, 1942, in the Pacific. His career spanned 32 years during which he advanced from private to colonel.
