In Memoriam: Alan Furlan
Former SSgt Alan Furlan died in Winchester, Va. He was 77. He appeared in 250 stage, movie and television productions and once toured as Mae West's leading man in "Come on Up and Ring Twice."
He was born in northern Italy and moved to Chicago. He enlisted in the Corps where he boxed and rose to the rank of staff sergeant. During World War II he fought as an infantryman on Guam and Iwo Jima.
