The Ryukyu Archipelago: Exercise Tests Air, Ground Readiness

An Okinawa-based unit recently joined forces with a Unit Deployment Program company from the Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif., to successfully complete Exercise Sudden Thunder on le Shima, just off the western coast of Okinawa.

Marine Aircraft Group 36 and Company I, 3d Battalion, Seventh Marine Regiment planned an attack, seized an airfield and captured a mock weapons cache in less than two days.
