Death Valley: Recon Calls out from the Lowest Point in the United States

The Seventh Marine Regiment's Reconnaissance Platoon added another achievement to its list of firsts when it established long-range communications with the Marine Corps Air/Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif., from the lowest point in the United States, Death Valley, in January.

This paralleled a similar first when they attained communications with Twentynine Palms from the highest point in the continental United States after ascending Mount Whitney, Calif., last Aug. 17.
