Korean War Memories: El Toro's Only Air Raid
When Harry Truman called up all Marine aircraft squadrons to prepare for duty in the Korean "police action," the "Flying Red Devils," Marine Fighter Squadron 232 was ready to go to war. Made up mainly of Brooklyn and other New York metropolitan area reservists, we weekend warriors felt proud when the local papers, like the Brooklyn Eagle, called us New York's finest.
