The South Atlantic: Showing the Flag in Africa and South America

United American States forces departed recently to perform a routine six-month deployment to West Africa and South America.

The Marine air-ground task force element of UNITAS falls under Task Force 138, whose primary mission is to provide simple public relations with outside military forces, displaying openly the American flag and the Marine Corps, said Major Clete T. Davis, commanding officer.
