Quantico's Reserve Marines and Their Fighting Machines

Early winter mornings in Virginia are gray and misty. Canteen cups of coffee or cocoa emitted small steam clouds. Figures wrapped in field jackets and knitted caps emerged and disappeared in the fog. Heavy diesel engines coughed and clanked to life, and thick blue clouds mixed with the gray morning. You could taste the exhaust fumes.

The reservists of "Delta" Company, 4th Light Armored Infantry Battalion, Fourth Marine Division of Quantico, Va., were on the move.
