Short Airfield For Tactical Support concept has been developed by the Corps to supply fast tactical air support during its amphibious operations

THE MARINE pilots who flew from K-3 in Korea well remember the sign perched close to the end of the runway. It read: "Oops", and it had a definite meaning.

The sign meant that if the pilot could read it, the crash crew would be the ones to extract him from the impending crack-up.
