"From time to time, it seems like we have to remind ourselves about some of the fundamentals of correct troop and drill. Observation of the morning drill formations reveals certain practices and techniques that can be improved.

"First, there's the matter of uniform. The purpose of our uniforms is to have uniformity of appearance in the formations. This means all hands in the same uniform and includes officers and NCOs. If field jackets are worn-everyone should be in a jacket. If helmets are the uniform, then every man in the unit should be in a helmet.
