Q & A: Col Thomas Manion Talks to Andrew Lubin About What Memorial Day Means to Him
MCA&F's Andrew Lubin talks to Col Thomas Manion, USMC (Ret), May 22, 2014, about the meaning of Memorial Day, the Travis Manion Foundation, and Col Manion's just-released book "Brothers Forever."
MCA&F’s annual Ground Logistics Officer of the Year Award is named after Col Manion’s son, 1stLt Travis Manion, who was killed in action April 29, 2007, while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq, and was awarded both the Bronze and Silver Star medals for his actions under fire.
Today, Manion Hall at TBS serves as a reminder to the next generation of Marine officers of Travis’ “Spartan warrior spirit” and his leadership on and off the battlefield.
In recognition of Lt Manion’s dedication, the Marine Corps named an award after this fallen Marine, and MCA&F provides it as part of its Marine Excellence Awards Program.
