Liberators Return to Guam; Welcomed As Heroes
The generals talked. They were interesting. The governor addressed the group, and he was well received. The admiral gave a nice speech, too. Local politicians and officials from various Marine Corps groups recalled history and some personal views.
But none touched the hearts and minds of the liberators as when Del Luck made her impromptu talk. Many who had proven their manhood in combat found it difficult suppressing tears as she thanked those who returned to Guam following the lapse of a half century.
