Dear Sirs:

Reference is made to the article on Camp Elmore by Gene Young in the January Leatherneck.

The statement was made that this was the first Marine Corps installation named for an enlisted man. I wish to take issue with that statement.

The Marine Corps Rifle Range at Bremerton, Wash., was named for Pfc Wesley Harris, who served as a Marine during World War I. The camp was named prior to 1937. I fired that range 36 years ago.

The rifle range is still in operation.
