WE ALL READ SOMETHING in the papers almost every day about atomic weapons, new missiles, jet planes and fancy weapons for future wars. Some people like to think that all these things reduce the importance of the individual fightin' manthe foot soldier-the trigger pullers. Well, let me clue you men; this ain't so. The fightin' 'ground-pounder' is still as important as he ever was. An aircraft carrier can't seize a hill, a jet can't occupy a town, a missile can't police a city. Until they can, there will always be a need for ground troops.
