The purpose of this picture is to acquaint American audiences with the value of the Marine Corps as an arm of defense, its value as a training school for young men, not only from the military and naval viewpoint but especially from considerations of body building, character building, interesting and colorful experiences, personal friendships and associations, opportunity for advancement through experience in various trades and crafts, and use of technical and scientific instruments and equipment.
