Jake Leinenkugel became the fifth generation to head the Leinenkugel Brewing Company in 1989. He was born in 1952 in Chippewa Falls, WI. From 1971-75 he attended the University of Wisconsin, majoring in business. Jake worked at the brewery in a variety of roles from 1970-75. Like his father, Bill, brother, Dick and sons Matt and C.J., he joined the Marine Corps, serving from 1976 to 1982 and earned his degree from Pepperdine University.
In 1982, he resigned his commission and returned to Chippewa Falls and the family business, starting in the sales department. In 1986, he was promoted to vice president of marketing and sales. In 1988, Miller Brewing purchased the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company and in 1989, promoted Jake to president. He lives in Chippewa Falls with his wife, Peg, four children, and a grandchild. His hobbies are hiking the Rockies, golf and fishing for muskie and walleye.
