Feb. 20, 2013:
The Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Writing Award is sponsored by the Marine Corps Association and Foundation.
The award is given to the author of the best article written by an enlisted Marine, as judged by the editorial advisory panel of the Marine Corps Gazette, published in the Gazette in the calendar year.
For calendar year 2012 the article “Contractor Dependency” by MGySgt Richard Chaldekas was selected by the board and approved by the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps. His article is very relevant to today's and tomorrow's concerns, particularly in a resource constrained environment.
The award consists of a $1,000 check, a plaque, and a personal letter of congratulations from the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps.
