Military Ethos and Culture: You Can’t Always Do What You Want

For the U.S. military, budget cuts and bad decisions are here, and of the two, the budget cuts may be easier to survive. Like a summer storm, budget cuts will soon rage across every Service. Years of expansion and funding are inevitably followed by years of reduction in forces and cutbacks. Training funds dry up, ammunition stocks grow thin, and maintenance is deferred.
