Lav Upgrades Forthcoming

The Marine Corps is working to upgrade and extend the service life of the light armored vehicle (LAV).

The LAV has become a cornerstone of expeditionary warfare. The LAV's relatively light weight makes it possible to deploy the vehicle quickly in rapidly developing combat situations. Since receiving the first LAV in 1984, LAVs have accompanied U.S. troops into Kosovo, Somalia, and the Persian Gulf.
