From the General: You Are a Vital Part of The MCA&F Team
“The world is a dangerous place. We need to be ready, we need to be more affordable, and we need to find ways to work together more effectively.”
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, USA, began his address to the MCA&F Professional Dinner with those words a few months ago. They crystallize the challenge facing the Corps in 2013 and beyond … and show why your support of the MCA&F is so important.
Gen. Dempsey called the MCA&F a shining example of “the public-private-Veteran” partnership that helps and sustains America’s armed services. It’s a partnership “that frankly we’re going to need even more in the future,” he advises.
You see, the Marine Corps depends on the MCA&F to support programs that the Corps badly needs, but for which government funds can’t be used or are not available. In those cases, your generous support allows MCA&F to step forward and assist. When we do, all Marines benefit!
I appreciate every Marine who joins MCA&F. I am grateful to every Friend of the Corps who has chosen to stand with our Marines. The stories you read in SITREP, in our magazines, and on our website are your stories. You are helping make better, stronger Marines, every day.
Major General, USMC (Ret)
P.S. As part of our celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the MCA in April, we will be hosting open houses at The MARINE Shop stores in Quantico and Camp Lejeune. All Marines and Friends of the Corps are invited. For details, visit www.mca-marines.org. See you there!
