2006 Marine of the Year - 1st Marine Division
Sgt Troy A. White was born on 31 October 1986 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He graduated from Durand High School in June 2004 and enlisted in the Marine Corps on 13 September 2004. Upon completion of Boot camp at MCRD San Diego, Pvt White attended SOI at Camp Pendleton. Upon graduation, LCpl White was assigned to Co L, 3rd Bn, 7th Marines, MCAGCC 29 Palms. LCpl White deployed to Ar Ramadi, Iraq as a Squad Leader with Co L from September 2005 to April 2006. Sgt White is currently deployed to Ar Ramadi, Iraq and is serving as the Platoon Sergeant for 2nd Platoon. Sgt White’s personal decorations include: Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 gold stars), Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (with bronze star).
