Management Civilian Marine of the Year Award
Mr. Miller graduated from Granite Falls High School, Granite Falls, NC in 1997 and went on to attend Grantham University. Mr. Miller was serving as the Marine Forces Reserve Area Control Center (ACC) Officer in New Orleans during 2006. He led the ACC’s recovery from Hurricane Katrina, and excelled at duties for which he and his staff had little background. Normal ACC issues were exacerbated by the geographic dispersion of the more than 400 units across 48 states. Mr. Miller easily met the demands of a challenging assignment, during critical recovery operations. He also was directly responsible for the successful, full scale upgrade of Marine Forces Reserve’s alternate ACC. These accomplishments truly demonstrate Mr. Miller’s technical expertise, leadership ability, and commitment to mission accomplishment.
