Here are the results from the previous Trivia Challenge:

During the Chosin Reservoir campaign in late November and early December 1950, casualties poured into Koto-ri. While the airstrip was being extended to handle more and larger aircraft for medical evacuation, Marine aviators flew what type of old, obsolete aircraft onto the short strip to begin evacuation of wounded?

A. B-17 bombers
B. C-119 Flying Boxcars
C. Torpedo bombers
D. C-47 Skytrains

C. Reference: “Chosin” by Eric Hammel, page 361. Old Martin TBM Avenger torpedo bombers which were being used by 1st MAW staff where quickly converted to allow stretchers in the fuselage and bomb bays. For a list of the pilots who braved the weather, short strip and enemy fire, read page 360, "The New Breed" by Andrew Geer.

Winner: SSgt Joseph A. Gustwiller of Havelock, N.C., is our trivia winner. The key was the "old, obsolete aircraft." Leatherneck is sending SSgt Gustwiller a copy of the new Korean War book, "The Last Stand of Fox Company," by Bob Drury and Tom Clavin, which was reviewed in our Jan. 2009 magazine.

Leatherneck thanks everyone who fired an answer downrange. If you missed the bull's-eye this time, a new target is up.
