cold weather training

The article in the Leatherneck was outstanding. I am a former Sgt. 1953-1957. I went to Pickle Meadows in 1955. Enjoyed the training and the article 56 years later. John Agrafiotis

Stationed at Pickel Meadows

Spent a "few" years there in the early Eighties!  Love it and was there during the building boom!  What an awesome place to train Marines!  Article was outstanding as I didn't realize all the history of Pickel Meadows!

1951 From Bob Ingraham

I was in that Line of Marines as I was in the 15th Replacement Draft. After rhis training we Loaded onto the Gen. John Pope Troop Ship in San Deigo and headed for Korea. I might add, I think our 15th Draft was the first Marines to have issued the "NEW Thermo Boots". We were wearing them in the Photo.

was there

I was there in 1956, it was colder than h*** and the training was tough but worth it. We slept in shelter halfs and wore the first thermo boots called micky mouse boots.
