The CMC
Gen Cartwright has embarrassed the MC by not supporting the CMC in public. The MC speaks with one voice on policy issues. Gen Amos is that voice. Furthermore, I question whether Gen Cartwright has the strategic perspective to understand why opennly serving gays in combat, the field, barracks, and boot camp hinder mission, hurt morale, and lead to a break down of good order and discipline. If sexual preference does not matter, gender does not matter. Following that logic, the MC must bunk everyone together. When I returned from OIC with II MEF last January, I was happy to have some privacy. How would I have performed if I had to live with a gay Marine.
