The Marine artillery community is undergoing significant change. Factors affecting these changes include (among others) the introduction of new weapons systems, the lack of proficiency in our primary MOS due to the recent trends in operational requirements and the looming spectre of the "task" to be the "civil affairs" force-in-readiness.

Various forums exist to support the theoretical, the strategic or the formal command AAR. However, there are limited environments for "operators"--specifically those on the ground--to provide their feedback, advice, and perspectives for a larger audience. This is especially true for that feedback not necessarily desired or endorsed by "higher" but ever so crucial for peers and colleagues within this artillery community.

This forum seeks to enable the user--whether they be battery executive officers awaiting deployment or new SNCO section chiefs (or anyone else)--to provide their perspective for the greater community. Anonymity enables honesty moreso than might a more formal forum (such as the Gazette proper). Please do not hold back; let others learn from your pain. Perhaps you might learn something useful as well.

Semper Fidelis.
