Please view very disturbing link recently posted on liveleak.com.

I'm posting this here with the assumption that most readers support the current strategy of moving our forces in with the people and out of the fortress FOBs. I certainly do. There's an increase in risk, at least initially, with this plan until we build relations w/ the people and create a legitimate indigenous force to operate alongside. This link demonstrates the importance of why we can never get complacent; why more armor, sappi plates, NVGs, etc. aren't the answer; and why we need to make sure our Marines/Soldiers understand the dedication and strategy of our enemies.

Truly disturbing that this insurgent was able to pull this off and have his buddy covering him with a video camera in the process. Reminds me very much of the tactics discussed in Poole's Phantom Soldier, Tactics of the Crescent Moon, and Terrorist Trail.

I'll use this link to reinforce enemy TTPs and what we must do to combat them.

Looked more like an APC than a tank to me. Whatever it was, if the unit owning that vehicle routinely deploys them in urban areas without infantry support, its a wonder that doesn't happen more often! The perp (and the cameraman) would - and should - have been easy pickings for any covering rifleman.

unforgiveable tactics aside...the fact that this video and the thousands like make their way into the internet world and get passed around is why we're losing the information war. Where are the clips of all the good things being done?

India Six is correct. Whether this is a real video of an attack or sophisticated propaganda doesn't matter. General Conway was right, when during Fallujah, he said that Al Jazeera is kicking our ass. I don't think the Jihadis had to go through a chain of command to post that video, while our stories sit on some chief of staff's desk.

Gents, the internet is here to stay. Live with it and quit wasting energy fighting it. In the broadest perspective, unconstrained information is a good thing. Yes, there's lots of crap, but there's also lots of truth, and all of it is equally available to all. That's never been true before, and the consequences are still unclear, but I can't help but sense that, over time, truth will triumph.
