National Museum of the Marine Corps, Triangle, Va

The National Museum of the Marine Corps hosts its annual “Month of the Military Child” event Saturday, Apr. 14, 2012, in the Museum’s Leatherneck Gallery. The family-friendly event, coordinated by the Museum’s Education Department, celebrates the nation’s commemoration of April as Month of the Military Child.

Community organizations will offer crafts and activities that foster family team building. Other kid-friendly activities will include puppet shows, book readings by authors, a LEGO display and face painting. The Museum’s mascot, Chesty the Bulldog, will also be on site for photos with kids and parents alike.

The Celebration of the Military Child event offers a venue for organizations to showcase their programs that help support the military family, and show appreciation for military children in fun and engaging ways. The event is open to all families, military and civilian alike.

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees can go online to www.usmcmuseum.org for more information.
