Michael Horrocks Statue Dedication & 9/11 Ceremony

West Chester University will celebrate “Michael Horrocks Day” on Saturday, Sept. 11, before its college football game against Edinboro University. Michael Horrocks is a former quarterback and alum of West Chester University. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S Marine Corps and later became a commercial pilot. He was a co-pilot on the second plane that was hijacked and crashed into the world trade center towers on September 11, 2001.

There will be a statue unveiled at Farrell Stadium on Saturday morning during a ceremony, which will begin at 10:30 a.m. Michael Horrock’s wife and children will also be on hand for a brief ceremony before the game. The Marine Corps Color Guard will be on hand, a 30x60 American flag will cover the field for the national anthem, which will culminate in a flyover of C-130 cargo planes.

Take I-95 South to Exit 3A to merge onto US-322 West (Conchester Hwy toward West Chester). Turn left at US-1 West (Baltimore Pike). Turn right at US-202 North (Wilmington Pike). Turn left onto PA-926 West (Street Rd). Take first right onto S. New St. Stadium is approximately two miles up on the right.
