Colonel Helen G. Pratt graduated from Officer Candidate School (OCS) in 1988 and completed The Basic School (TBS) in 1989. Her first duty station was Camp Pendleton California as a Platoon Commander with B Co 7th Motor Transport Battalion at which time she served in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm as the S4a and Alpha Company commander. After completing 3.5 years on active duty she joined the reserves in Orlando Florida with 6th Motor Transport Battalion (MTBN), and held the following billets: Platoon Commander; Maintenance Officer; Executive Officer; and Company Commander. As a Major she joined Headquarters & Service Battalion as the Operations officer then moved to Maintenance Battalion in Charlotte, N.C. and held the billet as Executive Officer where she was deployed in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) as an OIC for the Transportation Support Coordination Center, Marine Logistic Command (MLC). Upon her return she was promoted to LtCol and selected as the Battalion Commander for 4th Maintenance Battalion, at which time she was mobilized in support of OIF 4.1 with the Provisional 6th Civil Affairs Group (CAG) for 11 months. After the deployment she joined Marine Forces Europe (MFE) in Stuttgart Germany as the AC\S G4 IMA Det. Once promoted to Colonel she returned to the 4th MLG where she currently holds the billet as the AC\S G4. She will Command the 4th Civil Affairs Group, Washington, DC, in May 2010. Colonel Pratt is employed by Orange County Public Schools in Orlando Florida as an “At-Risk” counselor in a middle school that serves 1200 students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grade. She has an Educational Specialist Degree (Ed. S.) in School Psychology and recently graduated from the Army War College with a Masters Degree (M.A.) in Strategic Studies. She is also a member of the Marine Corps Reserve Policy Board (MCRPB).
