My Facebook friends started a trend at the beginning of the month, each day they named something they were thankful for in honor of Thanksgiving. Over the course of this year, I have had an abundance of blessings. Just last week, my husband raised his right hand and re-enlisted for four more years in the Marine Corps. His choice to become a Marine has turned into a gift not just for me but for our children. Every day of my life I get to wake up knowing the man I married chose a life of service, and not just any service but one as a United States Marine.

Some of you have been along with me for my journey as Military Spouse magazine's 2011 Military Spouse of the Year (that's a mouthful :) for the last 5 months. Just this week, nominations have opened for the 2012 MSOY for all 5 branches. I am hoping you will utilize your website and social media outlets to spread the word.

In September, I travelled to DC for a Joining Forces event; along the way, I got to stop at a very special residence: Home of the Commandant. I met with Mrs. Amos in the sunroom that overlooks the 8^th & I parade deck. The view is as precise & stellar as you would expect of anything associated with the Marine Corps.  We took the time to catch up on family happenings, her experiences with PCS moves (since I have an impending one), and then we spoke about my favorite subject, family readiness.
